About PolyComp

At the time of disposal, PolyComp developed, produced and sold – as part of the Sport Group – EPDM granulates for outdoor sports and fall protection surfaces as well as cable-filling mixes for the cable industry. PolyComp was formed by the GEP funds and, in 2004, originally consisted of three separate companies: Melos, headquartered in Melle, Germany (corporate spin-off), Sovereign Rubber, Manchester, England (secondary management buyout), and UniRubber, Wegliniec, Poland (ownership succession).

The strategy

Together with the GEP funds, management was able to continue the successful historic growth and strengthen its leading position on the international market. In 2006, PolyComp was merged with Polytan to establish the Sport Group and, in this way, became the world’s only integrated system provider for artificial sport turf. The Sport Group has been sold in a management buyout to the pan-European private equity company Industri Kapital.
